Hawaii - Part I

Wow!

Hawaii is everything and more.

We left Australia late May 23 for a Hawaiian holiday.

Flying out of Melbourne to Sydney with Qantas was great, we got to Sydney and caught the shuttle bus to the International Terminal, all went smoothly, yay!

Once we got through Australian Customs I was looking for a coffee (which I found) when I saw all the high-end shops such as Rolex and Tiffaney & Co to name a couple, plus a giant face, yep, just the face that would follow you and move it's eyes, very cool.

We boarded the plane that would take us to paradise and found on each seat a set of headphones and blanket, we were on an overnight flight. With a screen in front of each person you can select what you want to watch or check out where you are and what speed your travelling at.

On arrival to Honolulu we got to the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa located directly across from Waikiki Beach and are twin towers. We stayed in the Ewa Tower and the view from our room and balcony was absolutely spectacular. The room itself was spacious and I would highly recommend staying there. An added bonus that I have to mention is Kai Coffee, the house specialty Latte is the best I've ever had and if you're a coffee drinker, you don't want to miss out on trying Kai Coffee, located within the Hyatt itself.

A huge thank you to Shelly from Real Hawaii Tours for our Island Tour. Highly recommend booking a tour with them. On this day tour I had the best pineapple and shrimp I've ever, ever had at our lunch stop. It was amazing and they farm the shrimp themselves and the pineapple is from the Dole Plantation. Ahhhmazing!

One of the things I really wanted to find while in Oahu were the Rainbow Eucalyptus trees and found them at the Dole Plantation entrance. They even look a bit like our Eucalypts in Australia but not in those incredible colours!

Our accommodation was directly across from Waikiki Beach and the room was spacious, comfortable bed, great balcony and the toilet seat was HEATED! Best bathroom ever!!!

Check out this view from the balcony!

An Island tour with "Real Hawaii Tours" is a must and a highlight of the trip. Shelly was our guide and driver who is a local and the best tour guide. The itinerary was Diamond Head Lookout, Hanauma Bay Lookout, Halona Blowhole, Waimanalo Beach, Macadamia Nut Farm, Chuna Man's Hat, Kahuku Fruit stands, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Historic Haleiwa Town, the exceptional Dole Plantation and we also stopped off at Dave's Ice Creams where the second generation are making on a daily basis the most incredible ice cream and flavours you've ever had or thought of and they have helped out the local community since the shop first started.
